Executive Director

The Paris-Henry County Arts Council (PHCAC)  is seeking a creative and passionate leader to serve as the next Executive Director of the PHCAC. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing and promoting the practice and appreciation of the arts for the development of our community. This role involves planning, coordinating, and executing a wide range of arts-related activities and events to enrich the cultural life of the town. 

The role is part-time hourly, working at least 15 hours per week, with the possibility full-time contingent upon funding.

Key Responsibilities


Arts Program Management:

  • Implement annual arts programs that include visual arts, performing arts, and cultural events. PHCAC's established annual events include but are not limited to Arts ‘Round the Square, Farm-to-Table Dinner, Writing Contest, Artist Showcase, and Photography Showcase.

  • Create and manage the budget for arts programs and ensure cost-effective planning and execution.

Office Management & Administrative:

  • Coordinate any office maintenance with the landlord, these activities which may include HVAC repairs, lock changes, etc.

  • Light housekeeping is required on occasion for office upkeep, including trash disposal, supplies refills, vacuuming around furniture, and wiping bathroom countertops.

  • Track and submit monthly receipts to the Board Treasurer, ensuring that coding is provided for each transaction.

  • Maintain records, financial reports, and program evaluations.

  • Check P.O. Box and telephone voicemail at least once weekly, ensuring the inbox remains open and accessible.

  • Serve as the Board liaison in keeping the BOD informed of programmatic, financial, and administrative organizational activity.

  • Supervise a small team of staff and volunteers as necessary.

  • Website management, ensuring that registration forms and dates are current, as well as ways to donate and find pertinent information for Arts Council events.

  • Managing the Arts Council Facebook page and Instagram page, including generating content to market and celebrate arts in the community and all Council events

Event Planning:

  • Secure strategic local business sponsorships for key events

  • Organize and coordinate art exhibitions, concerts, theater productions, and other

    cultural events.

  • Handle logistics, ticketing, marketing, and volunteer coordination and training.

  • Work collaboratively with the Board and volunteers in producing programs and events

Community Engagement:

  • Foster relationships with local artists, performers, cultural organizations, government officials, and civic groups.

  • Collaborate with schools, community groups, and local businesses to promote and support arts initiatives.

  • Attend community workshops and various local and regional meetings to continue learning about ways in which PHCAC can build strategic partnerships and advocate for the arts

Public Relations:

  • Promote PHCAC events and initiatives through various marketing channels, including posting on social media, updating blogs on the PHCAC website, writing press releases, and community newsletters.

  • Act as a spokesperson for the arts community, engaging with local media and stakeholders. Opportunities to promote PHCAC programming include attending monthly Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber Coffee, recording a commercial for local radio station, and attending local art shows.

Grant Management and Fundraising:

  • Identify grant opportunities and write grants to secure funding for continued arts initiatives

  • Meet and communicate regularly with the PHCAC’s designated grant representative with the Tennessee Arts Commission.

  • Organize and executive annual Donor Letter Campaign to support the arts in the community.

  • Oversee donor stewardship strategy, ensuring that Thank You letters are prioritized, donor feedback is gathered and utilized, and donors and the community receive an annual summary of how their funds made an impact.

Qualifications


Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree from an accredited, not-for-profit college or university, ○ or an equivalent of at least three years of nonprofit management or public administration experience.

  • Passion for the arts and community development.

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and effectively build relationships.

  • Experience creating and managing organizational budgets.

  • Strong communication (both written and spoken), leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in project management.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired:

  • Proficiency in grant writing, fundraising, and donor development.

  • Knowledge of local and regional arts resources and networks.

  • Experience with strategic planning and implementation

  • Ability to articulate a vision of growth for the organization.

Compensation & Benefits
