I had a 6X4 zinc plate and place a wax coating over the top of it. I then scratch out with a needle tip tool my design for the project. Everything I do on the plate must be backwards because it is flipped when printed. I then take the plate and put into a bath of acid. I usually let it set in for thirty minutes to get deep lines to hold rich ink. After the thirty minutes I then take off the wax coating with mineral spirits. I then take the plate and apply ink to the surface making sure that the plate has evenly spread ink. I then take the plate and lay it face up onto the plate. I then take paper that has been soaking in water, dry it and place it atop the plate. On the press there are felts to protect the plate and paper that go over the two. I then roll the plate through, lift the felts and have my finished product. This is only the line part to doing the process but was the most on this particular project. A whole different process happens to create tone on the plates.*
